Welcome to the space-science core of this site! This is where I ramble about the cool stuff Iβm learning, coding, or observing.
π Current Focus: AGN Jets
I'm currently working on a visual classification project for Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) jets β massive, energetic particle beams ejected from supermassive black holes. My goal is to categorize how these jets bend due to interactions with the surrounding medium.
The project uses a combination of Python scripts, visual inspection, and occasional yelling at FITS files. It's fun, frustrating, and fantastic.
πΌοΈ FITS File Preview
This is a mockup preview β one of my processed FITS files (displayed as a static image here):
π οΈ Tools I Use:
- π§ DS9 for FITS visualization
- π Python (with Astropy + custom scripts)
- πΌοΈ Matplotlib for plotting jet profiles
- ποΈ Pandas for cataloging metadata
π‘ Future Goals:
- Create an interactive jet morphology browser
- Make a public dataset of interesting AGN structures
- Write a blog post series explaining the data pipeline
